International Withdrawal and Refund Policy

Payments

If paying by Wire Transfer, please note your bank, the intermediary bank (if applicable), and the College’s bank each charge a fee to process your payment. It is the responsibility of each student to ensure that the Application fee, Tuition and Fees are paid in full by the dates specified in their offer letter.

Refund and Withdrawal

Visa Denial

To be considered for a refund due to a visa denial, please contact the International Office by e-mail within the first 10 days of the term start or offering of registration with a copy of the visa denial letter issued by a Canadian Embassy or Consulate for that specific term or offering. A refund of tuition and fees will be assessed minus a $500 administration fee and a $50 wire transfer fee which is charged by our bank for the wire transfer refund.

Alternatively, the registration may be deferred to the next available offering; only one deferral will be allowed. Requests received after the start of a term or offering due to visa denial will be assessed as a refund according to the date of withdrawal and subject to Northern College’s regular Refund Policy. A copy of the visa denial letter issued by a Canadian Embassy or Consulate for that specific term or offer must be presented. Please note that any deferral student is not entitled to withdrawal/refund upon arrival.

It is the responsibility of the student to contact the International Office before the start of the term or offer registration if there is a delay in obtaining a study permit. Students who begin their studies at Northern College without a valid study permit will be removed from classes and will be assessed a refund according to their date of withdrawal. A copy of the visa denial letter issued by a Canadian Embassy or Consulate for the specific term or offer is required at all times.

Requests made without proof of visa denial will be assessed under the regular terms according to their date of cancellation or withdrawal.

If for any reason an international student is unable to attend Northern College at Pures – Toronto for their scheduled program, they must contact the International Office by e-mail at admissions@pures.ca before the start of the term or offering of registration explaining why they cannot attend.

Once this email is received a refund of tuition and fees will be assessed minus a $500 administration fee and a $50 wire transfer fee which is charged by our bank for the wire transfer refund.

College Withdrawal

An international student can apply for withdrawal within 10 days of the term start. A withdrawal would not be granted after the 10th day. The international student must request the withdrawal request in person at the study location indicated on the letter of acceptance. We don’t accept telephone appointments regarding any withdrawal request in order to verify the identity of the student and ensure the privacy of the student is protected.

Refunds will be issued in the same method of payment as the original payment. If transferring to another institution, refunds will be processed only if attending an approved Designated Learning SPP Institute for the same semester as accepted to attend Northern College. In order to process the refund, a valid letter of acceptance and semester fee receipt from the other institution indicating the start date of studies, a copy of passport, and valid study permits must be submitted at the time of withdrawal application in person.

Students who withdraw and return home must submit the withdrawal application documents including, a copy of passport and valid study permit, flight ticket and re-entry stamp upon return to the home county.

Students who defer their admission to the next intake forgo the right to receive a refund in the next intake. The prepayment of first-semester tuition will remain with the College.

A non-refundable fee of $1859.96 (plus the bank charges) will be withheld for all students who request a withdrawal and students must follow Northern College’s withdrawal policy.
