My name is Sanmeet Kaur and I am a proud, 2023 graduate of the Early Childhood Education program at Pures College of Technology. I was directed to study at Pures through the influence of my older brother who was a big supporter of the college as one of the best for ECE. Of course, I did a lot of research before applying, and I am happy to say, his opinion was right.
I realized through my research that coming to study in Canada would be both exciting and challenging. I was excited and nervous at the same time. I knew my journey was the beginning of a new chapter to my life and so in my mind I built up confidence in myself and my ability to come, alone to Canada.
Facing challenges has always been part and parcel of my life. I soon realized one of the biggest challenges I had to face was homesickness. However, I found a way to overcome this by meditating, reading books, learning and experience new things about Canada by exploring its beauty and discovering its culture.
Probably like all of us who come to study in Canada at Pures, my first few weeks of college was full of my heart and mind’s dreams of learning. I got to know my instructors; they were the best! Their charming personalities and how they explained everything so well made the beginning of my educational journey unforgettable. One of these experiences that stands out for me was the making of the introduction videos. It was during the time our classes were online. Strangely, it became a great way to know about my classmates as it provided the opportunity to have many conversations amongst all of us. I really enjoyed this project, and it remains an appealing experience for me.
The professors were really one of the best things about my time at the college. Their powerhouse of knowledge and their ability and willingness to guide and mentor us whenever we needed was a great help. I also remember how valuable our student services team proved themselves to be. Whenever I had a need for help or an issue, they were always available and did their best. Although my time at Pures was filled with academic and practical learning, I did have a lot of fun as well. The most fun I had was when I had my own booth at a Pures multicultural event where I was face-painting flags. It really appealed to my love of colour, my interest in diversity, art, and knowledge of different cultures. I received a great deal of encouragement and compliments of my art. It will always be a wonderful memory that will remain with me in my heart.
My time at Pures was filled with fun times but also with a great deal of hard work and study. Enjoying a lifetime of experiences, I can say my love for the college, its wonderful instructors and staff members was the best! In addition to the knowledge I gained, I also received a great deal of confidence building appreciation and support that has promoted my personal and professional growth.
The story of my experiences and student life at Pures is one that I hope others will have as well. I would highly recommend this college to all who are ready to face the challenges I did, to start a new chapter of their life, to learn and grow to prosper in every phase of your life. In closing I must say that I do miss my college a lot, but the many memories and knowledge I gained will remain with me for all my life.
